September 22, 2005: Apple Replaces Cracked nanos
The introduction of the iPod nano was greeted with oohs and ahs by both users and marketers. Unfortunately, when the nanos made it into people's hands the complaining started.
The nano, many felt, scratched too easily and even more worrisome, it was prone to screen breakage. Users adapted to the easily scratched surface of the nano (much to the delight of case makers) but the cracking screens were a different story.
Apple stepped up to the plate and began replacing cracked nanos this week in 2005.
